What is 'product standardisation' and 'product adaptation'?

What are they and what is the difference?

I would guess that Product Standardisation would be where a coporation having branches around the globe and different means of advertising and branding of a product for each market would now be streamlined into one type of campaign

Product adaptation would be where the market strategy and advertising and selling strategies would have to be adapted in order to have a competitive edge or the product line/chemistry changed to suit the market needs.
Do you remember the standard computer keyboard and then that one that came out that was angled to adapt to people who were getting carpal tunnel syndrome?
