Can someone help me with the history of Cevrolette?

I was wondering abou the history of the Chevy auto company. I heard that it was owned by a company in France, but I had always thought it was an American owned company. Can someone help me out?

The auto manufacturer that has ties in France would be Nissan (Renault). This history of Chevrolet is at the website:

(part of General Motors) Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/general_mot...
Chevrolet is a line-brand of General Motors car. You can google the name William Durant for more info.
Louis-Joseph Chevrolet the founder of the company was of French ancestry but was born in the Netherlands if I remember correctly. He partnered with Durant to form the company.
The corporate office is in Michigan, and the European office is in Switzerland.
So to answer your question, there is a French Connection, but it is not owned by a French company.
