Referring to a grocery store as a "banner store" means what exactly?

Does it mean that its the first of many to come? Say a large corporation purchased the only existing grocery store with that particular name and location. Any ideas?

I think it means it's their example of their personal best, their flagship store, their standard-bearer.

Usually banner stores have the best merchandise, etcetera.
I suppose they use these stores to demonstrate their best potential.
