How do i ensure the security of my credit card transactions?

Just bought this exquisite pearls from Macy's with my card. Any extra tips on how to make sure that the transactions will be secured? Thanks!

It is a gamble out there.

Millions of people credit records have been breached at many different kinds of companies. You take your financial life into your hands every time you use a credit card, ATM, pay a check, etc.

Think of it as a weakest link in a chain that has many weak links. You use credit at Macy's or some other store that is supposed to save secret info on your identity only long enough to get your money, but if you return something to them 20 years later you will find out that they saved everything to be good customer service in case of future returns. So it only takes one computer breach there any time in the future and you are dead financial meat.

They send that info to a place that provides services to banks over communication line that hackers try to penetrate, then this other place is only supposed to store info a short time, and it is supposed to have super security, but the big problem in computer security these days is you have to be a technical geek to figure it out, and the companies are run by people who don't understand the stuff & don't want to be bothered by it.

Then the info goes over another communication line that the hackers have great interest in, and gets to the bank, and some banks have been breached by insiders. Source(s): http://www.privacyrights.org/ar/chrondat...
i would just make sure that there no "extra" charges only the ones that you signed for at checkout...
They use a very secure web site, you don't have to do anything to protect your credit card. If you bought the pearls at a store, your receipt has only a partial credit card number and your information is also secure.

macys.com uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to provide you with the safest, most secure shopping experience possible. SSL is the most widely used data encryption coding system for secure e-commerce transactions. All of the forms on our site are secured with SSL technology, which means your credit card numbers and other personal information is always encrypted (scrambled) before it is sent or received over the Internet.
Enroll yourself into their website so you can monitor any charges on the account.

You would be able to tell immediately if any charges that you don't recognize.
