Does the credit card co. furnish the dept collectors with the creditors personal information? |
Does the credit card co. furnish the dept collectors with the creditors personal information? Absolutely. They give them any information that they have to assist in collecting the debt. That includes names, addresses, birthdays, and social security numbers. Source(s): Used to work in collections only what they need to contact you to collect the debt account info name address phone email if applicable place of work (if they had that on file) Everything that was stated at the time of applying, all personal information, residence, landlord, rent/mortgage, phone, employment, previous employers, date of birth, social security #, all other creditors owed at that time, everything is given to make collecting the debt easier. As the above poster stated, absolutely, and they will contact previous employers, landlords to follow up new leads to contact you. I was in Finance and Collections also. They use the information in the business known as "skip tracing", to locate you and your employer, new residence, assets, etc. if you have neglected paying the debt. Yes, they call anybody and everybody that they think may know you. I got a call from a collection agency looking for someone I don't even know. I told them time and time again that the person they're looking for doesn't live here and I don't even know who that was. Because I answered the phone the first time, they consider that a contact and continue calling me. I have caller ID so I never pick up the phone after that. That tells you they would do anything to get their money back even if they have to call a thousand times to a wrong number without accomplish anything but they never give up. They sure do. I work for a finance company and we turn over the customer's whole file to our collection agencies. |
