Is this an error on My credit rating....please help??? |
This is what happened: I ordered Verizon Online in Sept, then I didnt like it so cancled the account with them, then they told me that i may keep the modem, so i did, then around febuary i recived a letter from a collections agency saying that i owed money to verizon, so i contacted them and they told me i owed money to them b/c of the modem, so i retured the modem and Verizon told me that they would resolve all of this, so i trusted them, and then now i went to get loan and they regected me saying that my credit rating was very low because the collections agency had reported me to the credit bearu. So I ask you what should i do to fix this? You need to look at your contract and see what it said. I don't know about verizon's service, I have AT&T with the free modem. I assume all telecommunication companies have the same policy. My contract stated that if I cancel my service within X number of months (I forget how many months), I have to return the modem or I will be charged for the modem. After that X number of months, then I can keep the modem. Hope this help. Similar situation happened to me with Cingular regarding a phone that I was told I could keep (because my phone had malfunctioned) but I was charged. The deal with them was that I cancelled service within 3 months of recieving my "free" phone and was charged. I was told this after the fact that this was a limitation on recieiving my free phone. Maybe this happened to you although they said you can keep it!!! To fix it first make sure it wasn't a mistake on your part (meaning if you signed paperwork, read the fine print to ensure you're within rights) If nothing in the fine print has exceptions for the modem, then Call them again (as frustrating as it might be) and explain again, get it in writing if they say "they'll handle it" Dispute the item on your credit report and hopefully one of these ways will be resolved. If not take tell them that you want to take legal action, most companies have arbitration as a solution-try this. Good Luck Just like your previous answers, there are X amount of months that you need to have the contract to keep the modem. As for getting them off your credit history, that might be a bit tough. I would contact verizon and vigorously attack this. Have them send you copies of any forms or documentation that they may have sent you. If this doesn't work to resolve this, I would go through the credit reporting agencies. Best of luck! If you have a stable job with a good source of income, you might be able to apply for a loan through a website called Prosper. This site is a People-to-People (P2P) lending site where individual borrowers join in on the loans to help fund yours. http://www.prosper.com/groups/group_home... You can fix this with credit repair. . Usually companies charge hundreds of dollars to simply pull your credit and send correctly worded dispute letters鈥攖his is the key鈥?.people will tell you that you can do this yourself for free but the truth of the matter is that the credit bureaus will throw your letters away or simply reject them. There is an easy to use online kit that will deliver the results you want available for just $19.95 at the source website. A similar kit is being sold via infomercials and radio talk shows for seventy dollars more but they try to solicit you repeatedly for other services after the fact. www.creditrepair101site.com |
