How can I make my credit score to go higher? |
My husband have had little credit but everything we've gotten loans and everything have been paid off on time. The loans that we have right now are being paid on time. Though our credit scores don't increase instead whenever we try to apply for a new loan it goes down? What can I do? First, check your credit score. You might have some unknown debt showing up. Second- you may be "overdrawn". Even when you pay all your bills on time, if your balance is above 50% of your total available credit, it will bring down your score. Inquiries into your credit can lower your score, as well. Stop applying for credit. New accounts or accounts with very little activity have little to no affect on your score. So opening up a bunch of accounts today will not improve your score tomorrow. Last, but not least, if you have several small credit lines, this can decrease your credit score. Creditors feel as though you are only approved for these small amounts due to lack of confidence of the other creditors. Rather than opening new accounts, try getting current creditors to raise your account balances. If you are a good customer many will consider increasing it for you. Most likely you have collections, or other blemishes on one or both of your credit reports. And if this is the case then your score will not go up much until enough time has passed for them to drop off your report. I would double check your entire credit history again to make sure. If you dont have bad marks on your report then it doesnt really make sense at all. Unless you have an incredible amout of debt or you are still very young. apply for a secured visa, you automatically get points. Stop applying and pay those bills off. Pay as much as you can afford on credit cards and pay well in advance of the due date. Establish good habits and lenders will see the PATTERN.
