UK - anyone heard of Intercase Credit Collections? Are they legit? |
They're asking us for money that we're sure we don't owe and it's going back a few years. It just all seems a bit odd. I was pestered by a credit collection company for years for a debt I didn't owe. Someone accused them of picking names off the elecoral roll. Write to them (recorded delivery) and ask for documented evidence of the debt. They will then stop, or produce the evidence. is this 'em? http://www.creditcollections.co.uk/debt-... I've not heard of them and there is not a collection agency with that name. It's possible that this is just a trading name of another firm. I suggest that you start by ringing the Office of Fair Trading on 08454 040506 and seeing if they are real. If they are, write to them (never bother phoning, you'll get fobbed off) and say that you do not owe them or anyone else any money and you want to see documentary evidence to back up their claim. You have ask them to prove you owe the debt, this is done in way of a Consumer Credit Act request, this will also include asking them for the Deed of Assignment, a legal document issued to the DCA when they purchase a debt from a creditor. Until they comply with the CCA request you are under no obligation to pay them anything as you do not acknowledge the debt. The debt is also unenforceable even in court if they cannot produce a true signed copy of the credit agreement. If they fail to supply the information within 12 days they are in default another calender month and they would have committed a criminal offence and should be reported to Trading Standards. DO NOT pay them a penny until they have supplied the credit agreement. They are breaking the law if they ask you for payment. 1. Ask for the name of the creditor and contact them direct with supporting paperwork to see if it has been recorded as being settled 2. Check Intercase Credit Collections on the FSA and Companies House Register (both free) 3. Pay 拢2 for your Credit Report (Google the 3 UK Credit Reference Agencies) to establish if any loan or purchase is recorded as outstanding. 4. If there are, pay them off if you have not, and ask the creditor to inform all 3 UK credit reference agencies. BTW: Don't use Intercase Credit Collections as loan brokers. The reason being they'll charge you a fee (under various guises) for simply looking at an in-house list of dodgy (sub-prime) lenders (loan-sharks) who then bung them a back-hander for every loan they refer. Most of these outfits seem to be run by Chavs for Chavs, so the loans are always very expensive. Which? etc. do some good reports. Instead, just go to an honest and impartial site like http://www.moneyfacts.co.uk and compare the loans for yourself. If you've a low credit score, the lenders most likely to loan are also included.
