Why would somebody not want to have their credit checked? |
Obviously they probably have bad credit but what else can I see in their credit check that they might not want someone else to see? legal judgements etc. People are just uncomfortable about the amount of disclosure they have to go through today to be employed. Who they owe money to. They may find it embarrassing. Some are also embarrassed by the amount of cards/loans they have. It could be that someone made a wisecrack in the past about it. They may just be embarressed......but I do know that if they have a bankruptcy or child / spousal support that is behind that will show up on there as well. Some creditors, bill collectors, etc. like to think that a credit report discloses the persons identity. There are many things a credit report can tell you. Besides the fact that he owe money, it may show where he works, where he lives, who he owes money to, if he owns property, what he drives, if he is responsible and pays on time, etc. Example, I had one guy ask me for a credit report...I pulled it for him and his wife found out that he had an account with a jeweler in the mall...he owed approx. 8k. She later found out that it was for a ring that was purchased only 4 months ago. A ring that she had not received. Ooops. Good Luck I am a Collection Agent You don't want to have your credit checked too often (including by yourself) because it will actually lower your score each time you check it, or someone else checks it. A credit report gives you a pretty good idea of how responsible a person has been in the last few years. It will show medical collections, judgments, bankruptcies, the number of accounts they have open, their creditor information, balances, credit limits, child support, previous addresses and employers, alias, different socials, etc. It could be that this person just has bad credit and is embarrassed to let someone else know, or maybe just doesn't feel comfortable letting a stranger know how responsibly or irresponsibly he has managed his finances. |
