My BF has a bankruptcy on his credit report that does not belong to him,any suggestions on how to handle this? |
His dad has the exact same name as him, the only thing I can think of that happened is that they did not look at the SSN? He needs to file a dispute with each of the credit agencies. They will investigate and remove. This can take awhile, but sometimes it is very fast. Update: websites for you http://www.equifax.com/home/ http://www.transunion.com/ http://www.experian.com/ That happened to my brother and he wounded up changing his name legally. It was a nightmare for him. All he needs to do is write a letter to the credit bureau (all 3 since I am sure this appears in Equifax, Experian, and Transunion.) In the letter write the bankruptcy is his fathers and not his. They will investigate and fix it for him. You can dispute a bankruptcy just like any other account. Tell them that is someone else's with the same name. You can dispute any other negative accounts on your report also. http://aaacreditguide.com/forums... They only go by the SS# given to them. |
