Capitol One advertized that we would earn one mile for every dollar spent. Really? |
Now they say I must earn 15,000 points to earn a credit of $150.00. They laughed at me for thinking that I would get one air mile for every dollar I spent. What's wrong with this picture? Did you think that you were going to get 1 mile of travel for every dollar that you spent? Sorry, but frequent flyer miles/credit card points have NEVER been able to be traded in 1 for 1 for travel miles. It has always been multiple 1,000s of miles for a trip. It started out at 15k miles, then to 20k and now many programs require 25k or 30k miles for a roundtrip ticket. If you are getting $1 for every 100 points/miles, that's pretty typical - it's a 1% return and is equivalent to the 1% cash back rewards that many cards have. you didn't read the agreement! If you can find the original ad copy, then you have a case of false advertising and could start a class action suit. My guess is that their lawyers vetted all their advertising and, while misleading, it wasn't actually fallacious. I have the AMEX Delta Card and I get "sky miles" for every dollar spent, and one coach round trip ticked costs 20,000 "sky miles". If you were getting the dollar value in airline tickets for every dollar you spent on your credit card, then everything you bought would be free. Did you really think that was what Capital One was offering? I fell for that also. When I tried to transfer my miles, only to find out that I needed 20,000 to transfer, I transferred the balance to a 0% interest card and closed out Capitol One. This was over a year ago and they are still begging for my business. |
