Why are all the company's who have on line payment services charging a visa card fee even on a debit card? |
what work does any company do to warrent a charge as the consumer does all the work by filling all their details in and with a debit card the money goes straight into their accounts They DON'T all charge extra - and some DON'T charge Debit cards ... Plainly it's more difficult to program the payment system to detect the difference between Credit & Debit cards - so the simple answer is :- "Because it's easy" You can always shop around for a site that dosn't charge extra .. They get charged by the credit card company for transactions and are passing that charge to users. Credit card processing companies often charge a higher percentage for debit card transactions. As I own my own business, I have experienced this BS first hand. you are shopping in the wrong places. most dont charge anymore esp in uk All visa card payments get charged a handling fee to the person selling the goods. UK law was changed years ago to allow companies to reflect this in the price charged. debit cards are still part of the visa system. they dont actually check you have the money, just that you are likely to have the money. as opposed to visa electron which does check you actually have the money. |
