Medical bills on credit report?

My credit report says my medical bills are not viewable by anyone but me, by law. So, if no one can view them, does that mean they dont affect my credit?

The details of the medical bill that could indicate anything private (like the name of the medical provider) will not be viewable. The actual account balance and history will be viewable, and will affect your credit score.
Not at all, I had to file bankruptcy because of medical bills. What that means is if you apply for a credit card, they can look at your credit report, but they can't look at your medical bills, same as for loans and such. It is your medical privacy that blocks them from looking. Otherwise I can pay to run a credit check on you and know all your past medical problems.
Oh yes, very much so.
It shows up passed due, or in collections.

Correction, it will show up as a medical office name, collection agency, or hospital name.
One came up years ago on ours and couldn't figure out what it was, then it dawned on me, it was from another state. We thought it was taken care of.
they are the easiest to explain and write off, but they probably are affecting your credit so long as you have an unpaid balance or are past due
that is correct... med bills do not effect your credit what so ever and they never give 'late' fees!
Yes and no.

A collection agency can purchase your medical bill account as a collection account from your medical provider, and then report it to the credit bureaus as a non-payment item on your credit report. This will effect your credit score.

The details of the collection account on your credit report will not contain medical bill information, so anyone who sees it will only see that you have a bad item on your report.
I have an unpaid medical bill on my credit and it killed my credit score. So it can definitely affect your score...
