Should I leave my job after 10 years? |
I have been a loyal employee for 10 years. I recently found out that I am still below midpoint on my salary scale. I have been offered another job which is not quite as good as the one I have but it has a good future earnings potential. My bosses all tell me how much of an asset I am to the company and that I am doing a fantastic job. I also recently did receive a 10% increase in salary. But if I were to leave and come back they would pay me at least 20% more than I make now based on my experience and name in the community. I feel like they are running over me. Should I take a chance and leave? I don't appreciate being treated like a door mat. Please help. Approach you bosses in a non confrontal manners with fact to document your value . Ask why you are getting paid what you are. Ask why not more money. Do not bring up any other offers or considerations at this time. When you got the answers, think about them. Now go out and actively created a job search and find out what your real value outside your company is. u may be surprised. Now go back to bosses and revisit your pay issuses if you want.
