I Had good luck over the years I must have had 15 good paying jobs in the print industry. The Wed Killed print and most Printing shops are closed. So I went in to the handyman businedd I am verygood at working with my Hands But thats a Hard business now with Home prices droping. But heres the thing I look every where and cant find a job, seems like 52 is too old. I think I am a smart Man and good on my feet But I am so so Depressed . i dont know what to do. I have the Heart to work But can find a good job. I dont want to work at HD or wallmart. help
Dude, I have a 25 year history and a solid gold resume in the Advertising business. I've held top jobs at major, international agencies, but was "downsized" in a management shake-up at the last one (get rid of the expensive guys; bring in the cheap kids). And now that I'm within shooting distance of 50, all I hear is "overqualified," which is just a quasi-legal way of saying "too old."
It sucks but I've found out the hard way that it's a sad fact of life. Like you, I'm still young by most standards and I still have a young family to support, but it seems I went from fair-haired rockstar to middle-aged leper overnight.
