If you are in the UK, you cannot just be dismissed on the spot. If you are charged with misconduct, your employer must hold a meeting at which you have the right to be accompanied and be able to give your version of events. If that hearing finds you guilty of gross misconduct, you have the right of appeal before you are finally dismissed. It does not matter if you have written terms and conditions, this is the law. By not following that procedure, you can take your employer to an ET - even if the reason for the dismissal was fair, they can be fined for not going through the proper process. See the helpful ACAS website and ring their helpline.
