I am about to take a 2 week class to become a CNA. I am just wondering what to expect.
Congregation, But you have to have a big heart, Old people are like a small kids. First you have to see if you can handle this. Go into a couple retirement homes and a nursing home in your area and explain it to a nurse what you want to do and if you could just see how the work is handle. You have to be in time because the old people don't understand your problems, its not a hard job if you don't make it hard on yourself. A C.N.A jobs depends what shift you are working into, Its good to be in all shifts because then you will not be lost if you have to work a different shift. Night is easy because you don't see families, and nurse, administrators, and other people. Jobs include shower the residents, change them as needed get them dress before lunch, Make sure you pick up your trash, Brush their teeth, shave them, and then feed them also, Its like taking care of a kids. You will have some paper work, Must know how to write a report any bruise, or fall or any small Incidents, to your duty nurse, check blood presser, Check if the right food is given, You will be trained so you will learn a lot. You will have to have your finger print clearance, that mean you shouldnt have anythink BAD on your record, Health screen/ T.B. test done. First Aid done. Tour the facility, Most important is a team work. I was a C.N.A before I open my retirement home, I dont think I would have done this without my C.N.A. experencise. I am running my own business for 7 years now. You can e-mail me if you need more information. Wish you good luck. |
