My son is interested in pursuing a career as a sports cameraman. Any tips on how to pursue this?
What state are you in? I went to Specs Howard school of Broadcast Arts and that is one way to go, but there are other options as well. He could try getting an unpaid internship at a local cable station for experience (even after you go to school you have to do this, but depending on where you live and if he has the personality for it, this could save some time and money). In a business such as this, it is often who you know as much as what you know. That is why I chose Specs over traditional college, a college counselor said they had the best connections...they did hook me up with an internship on the #1 rated morning radio show in Detroit and some of my classmates got extra roles in a movie filmed in Detroit.
He can also do the broastcasting degree at a college, but that will take longer, cost more and possibly not get him the right connections... |
