. . .or financial consultants anywhere for that matter? I'm looking for a good estimate. Is it completely commission based or a combination of base salary and commission?
One soul. Merrill used to offer a $55,000 declining salary / increasing commission for the main training program (hence the old phrase "Merrill trains the street") I don't know what Smith Barney currently offers. If you get hired as a caller - it's 200 bucks a week. Always has been and probably always will be. In order to make any money you want to be on commission and be prepared to make 400 real calls a day. No typo. 400 or your NOT working. I did it at Shearson 20 years ago. It's the only way, unless you've got family money and big-time connections. Personally I think the business is much tougher now than 20 years ago. Good luck. My source? I DID it..!
