Finance Career? |
What are some careers in finance where you can make good money but still have a life? I'm a high school student who finds finance/business interesting but doesn't find the prospect of working 100 hours a week very appealing. Don't worry about the education or experience required, just provide info about anything that comes to mind. Thanks. Financial services might include banks, credit unions, finance companies, etc. To work in these, you need a business education. Look at an economics degree or maybe a straight finance major. Finance careers will offer the most opportunities in consumer financial services. There are more consumers who need loans, accounts, etc than businesses. working for bank or mortgage company I think you should start your career in an Audit firm like PWC and EY.You will learn many thing in 2 years. However you will work too much but believe it is worth to get this experience.By the way NO PAIN NO GAIN :) Me, E&Y First Year Assistant 100 hr weeks are for the first 2 years as an analyst. Afterwards, you get your prestigious mba and switch to asset management or ibanking associate. Depending on the firm, in asset management you rarely work longer than 65 hrs a week, ibanking associate work about 90 hrs. Hours get better as you progress up the ladder. Finance is one of those jobs that if you can't pull your weight, there are plenty of hungry ivy league mbas willing to take your place. |
