Did I make the right move? |
I recently quit my job at an accounting firm making about 45K to take a sales position with a leasing co. I left my job b/c I was bored out of my mind there, but I'm terrified that I am leaving a very stable position for something that's much riskier. Risk = opportunity! Could turn out to be the best career move you ever made. Give it some time - work to make the best of it. You still have your accounting training and experience and could go back into that field if you end up really hating it - but I'm betting you're going to like it. only time can answer this one. What is more important. Boredom or Brokeness http://microsofties.com When you get hungry because you're not making the stable income like you used to, that's when you'll learn to sell best. Don't let worry cloud your decision to leave a boring job. 45K is the underpaid, overworked accounting salary - if you are young and have no family, I agree with your move. You can always go back to audit, tax or whatever you were in Remember, there are plenty of opportunities for accounting people outside the Big 4 and public accounting. Do what interests you and grow from it. Two of my good friends are CPAs, I'm an I-banker |
