How important is it to speak more than 1 language?

I choose to go to college in europe, it was a little cheaper, and a lot more fun, and since i麓ve been out here i麓ve learned 2 languages, German and Spanish. on a scale of 1-10, (1 meaning you know nothing, and 10 a native speaker) my german is about a 6 and spanish about a 5. but i have another 8 months in spain, so it should be up to 8 or 9 when i麓m done.

I am majoring in Finance,

When i go back to the states to work, will these languages add value to my resume?

It depends on whom you speak with.... Ciaaaow...
I'm sure they will, but even if they didn't they will add value to your life. You have added many more people to your life who you would never have been able to meet before.
I left Engalnd for Spain 4 years ago and I wish my spanish was a 5!
Sure they will, u can work in diplomatic or international institutes or sth, besides learning languages adds more for ur personal life. it makes a good I'mpression about you for the employees and company owners even if its not required in the job description, and making more friends is a good idea too. i speak 3 languages: English, Arabic, and Japanese , im learning Spanish and when i finish ill start learning french! u dont knw how job offers i had. i work now in the Japanese embassy :)
Yes, the ability to speak these languages will help, particularly if you can do so at a business level. Your studying in Europe may help as well as it will have given you more of an international outlook than many of your competitors in the job market.
Especially in the U.S. the Spanish will be a major bonus, especially for larger companies. I speak German and Dutch and I travel for my company (it can definitely help you!!!).

I would rate language skills a high plus and companies love it!
Depends on what you want to do. Your best opportunity for an international career in the future would be with a school like Thunderbird when you decide to do an MBA.

If you liked languages just for the heck of it, and want a finance position in your typical American company, it probably wouldn't help you too much.

You'd definitely want to apply to global firms that may send your places to meet with clients. If that's the case, it would be an advantage.
