I had my professional reference check and employment check done for the bank does that mean I am hired? |
Its a job for a credit union. Does that meam they picked me as candidate for the position. They also did the Education Verification. Does that mean they liked me. No, it doesn't mean they like you. Credit Unions, Banks and other financial institutions do the most thorough checks because lets face it, you'll be handling other people's money. They want to make sure you are not a fraud. This check is all standard procedure. You still have to pass the check and pass the interview and whatever pre-employment testing they require. Keep in mind though that it is not cheap to do this kind of testing so they may have a few people in line for this position and either do one at a time or do the few and then make their decision based on what the checks said. So, they wouldn't do all this work and spend the money for someone they were certain they weren't going to hire. Its just not guaranteed. I recently encountered the same issue, I was hired with a company, that is associated with the credit bureau. When I went for my interview, they (employer) hired me on the spot, and gave me an acceptance letter and the letter stated that I was hired contingent on pre-employment basis. I was curious because I had some criminal background issues which I explained to the Human Resources recruiter when she called to give me the interview, also my adjudication was withheld which means I was charged but not convicted, so I too was curious on whether or not they would come back and say I do not have the job. I posted my question on yahoo answers because I was concerned on whether or not I really do have the job. The job doesn't start until May 29th, so I would say if the reference checks and the employment checks came back perfect with a good recommendation, yes you are hired, I am thinking that the employer conducted the checks before hiring me. Hopefully, that's the case. Good luck! I hope this answers your question. If you've passed the initial reference check, criminal background check, credit check and education check, that still doesn't mean you have the job. Even if you're hired, most financial institutions will have a probation period where they probe deeper into your history. If they find ANY discrepancies in your job application, they can and will fire you on the spot. My friend had a misdemeanor on her record but didn't report it on her job application at an investment bank..she was hired immediately but 1 month into the job, they let her go and had her escorted out of the building because she lied on her application. Leaving out information on the job application is equivalent to lying. But if you have a squeaky clean record and everything is on the up and up, I'm sure you'll be hired and working at the credit union in no time. Good luck! I would say you've got a pretty good shot at getting hired. At the very least, you're one of the finalists. Most companies would not spend the time/money/resources to do a background check of a candidate that they're not interested in hiring. |
