Have you taken the 6 or 63? any advice on taking them? what type of jobs can you receive with these licenses?
In order to take the 6 and the 63 you need to be sponsored by a brokerage firm. The Series 6 is the "Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative (IR)" examination; you can sell insurance with it. The Series 63 is the "Uniform Securities Agent State Law Exam (AG)" you need to have it in the main state where you intend to sell securities (the insurance products). Advice: Read the material and take the practice exams. After each practice exam make sure you read and understand each explanation. (Good Luck!)

Personal experience I have the 7 which is more complex, but basically read the book and take the practice test, but then again i majored in finance so it may have just been easy for me. With the 6 and 63, you can get a job assisting people with mutual funds. A 7 would allow you to sell individual stocks. I do not know if having the 6 and 63 would get your feet into a place such as AG Edwards, but I believe it would at lwast get your feet in the door. There are only around 100,000 licensed people to sell securities. The only thing I can tell you is to STUDY STUDY STUDY. Hope this helps. I, too, am getting ready to buckle down and study these two.
