A bank in Mexico asks for a CV instead of a resume. Do they mean the same thing or do i need to create a cv? |
I know there is a difference, but I thought that CVs were only for academic jobs and the like. I am applying for an entry level commercial banking job with Banamex albeit from the U.S. Thanks for your help. A CV is basically a longer version of your resume. If you have more things to say than you had space for on your resume, you can add them in. If not, just use your resume. A CV is a resume. Curriculum Vitae. CV or Curriculum Vitae - its the same thing. Americans prefer Resume. Did you receive the information in Spanish or English? Best Robert Resumecrazy A CV is the same thing as a resume it's kind of the scientific name...lol..Curriculum Vitae Technically there is a difference in that CVs were meant to be longer and more detailed than a resume but the two words have come to mean the same thing and I really doubt there is a difference in what the bank wants. They key thing to remember with a resume / CV is that it is your personal marketing document, not just a list of places you have worked and positions you've held. The best guideline that I have heard for writing your resume is to think in two steps for each job you have had. 1. Role and responsibility (what was the actual job scope - how many people you managed, who you reported into, what geography or products it covered etc..). 2. Achievements (what did you achieve by doing the job - increased revenue, cut costs, expanded into new markets etc...). If you are just starting your career, then you list out the extra things you may have done at school or outside of school -- basically the things that illustrate your drive, interests and initiative. Languages and cross-cultural experiences / abilities are also important. Yes CV means curriculum vitae and it means pretty much the same as a resume.
