Have you ever been headhunted, and did you take up the offer?

I've a decision to make, and I'm still not sure, I'd be interested if others had the same experience

I have been yes, but it wasn't exactly straight forward!

I was working at Domino's and one day, before my shift, I was asked to go and help a guy who worked with my brother. He just wanted some basic labour work carried out (moving boxes etc).
We got talking about the company and AutoCAD (a popular computer aided design package) was brought up.
I metioned that I was a time served CAD designer and he asked me to show him what I could do.
I showed him a few things and went back to moving boxes.

The next day he came in to Domino's and offered me a salary package that turned out to be double my meagre Domino's wage.

I quit Domino's on the spot and went to work there the next day.

Thae rest is history.
Only by African Pygmies.
Naturally I declined.

I would say if someone wants you negotiate for as good a deal as you can get, then try to make your decision.

Good luck.
I was head hunted 10 years ago and haven't looked back. You have nothing to loose so go for it.
Yes, that is how I got my current job.
You just have to look at the job offer and decide yourself if it will improve your salary, long term career prospects how you would it etc. It doesnt matter if the job came through a headhunter or you found it yourself
yes once, as tempting as the offer was, i didnt take it, because it meant re-locating and my son freaked out. it was a lot more money, but i can wait until he is out of high school.
My husband was headhunted by a consulting company early in his career. At the time he was young and trying to move from his first post-college position in research to one that could actually pay his college loans. His decision to make it was based on the fact that it was the money and the companies clients (he knew he'd end up in the pharma industry) who could eventually be good contacts for him. He was liked enough by the client (RPR) to be hired on by the company after they merged to become Aventis. Worked for them for another 7 years and then decided to go back to school to seek an MD. I think it depends on where you are at, if the offer presents you w/ options that you think will benefit your life and/or your career (better money, better hours, better position, more skills, or if your just ready for something different) and make you decision based on how moving positions will help you in your life.
Yes = they are desperate to get you, so you can negotiate from a position of strength.

If you are not too sure, ask them for a better package (higher salary and/or benefits = such as Private medical, Company car allowance, relocation allowance, disturbance allowance, travelling allowance, transition allowance etc etc etc).
