Which job is better working as Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial or Personal Banker with Wells Fargo

I have the opportunity to be either a Personal banker or a Financial Advisor, which one should I choose, both involve basically selling financial products, advantage of being a banker is that I would be able to prospect the clients coming in the bank, where as FA I would have to search for leads and prospects and salary/commissions are almost the same. Please advise

Personal banker will have more job security because people are always going to need a bank. People constantly get rid of their financial advisor and there is a lot more pressure to sell, sell, sell or get fired.
I would choose whatever is better career-wise. Whatever will look better on your resume & gives you room to advance is where I would go.
The decision is obvious based on your comments above.

Now wouldn't it be great to be a "Financial Advisror" to people as their "PERSONAL BANKER" who can offer financial products and services to people throughout their life span as apposed to a Ameriprise FA who has limited contact with people over the telephone. This is a glorified telemarketer position.

Representing a Bank such as Wells Fargo which is the oldest Bank in the West and one of America's most admired companies would seem to a great career opportunity.

You know they also have Licensed Personal Bankers who sell alternative investment options at their branches.

I would imagine that you would also receive Incentive Compensation opportunities quarterly as a Personal Banker accoring to a job positing AD I just read at:

www.wellsfargo.com (Careers)

When your a Banker you can offer more because people come to you for financial advice and you provide "SOLUTIONS!"

Go for it! GOOD LUCK! :-)
Wells Fargo Personal Banker vs. Amerprise Financial Advisor career opportunities?
What you really want: money or fame? Money: Ameriprise, fame: Wells Fargo.
