Which is better, becoming a CPA or a Financial Analyst?

i am trying to plan out my career path. i currently have a bachelor's degree in economics and now i don't know if want to pursue becoming a CPA or a financial analyst. I hate desk jobs. I want one that's challenging and could stimulate your brain cells to work double time :) need ur advice guys!

Both of those jobs would be considered "desk" jobs. If you get into auditing, you may spend less time at the same desk. If you become a financial analyst, it would depend on who you work for. Accounting does pretty much equate to "desk" jobs in most all cases. Source(s): MBA in Accounting (I'm now a CFO/Entrepreneur, which is a desk job sometimes, but I delegate a lot, too.)
If you have a bachelor's in economics, you will probably need to go back to school to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam. A desk job will be boring if you are not interested in the subject matter.
Well, the bad news is that they're both usually desk jobs. A CPA - Certified public accountant - prepares financial statements or tax returns for many clients, essentially assembling numbers to tell the story of their business or personal estate. A CFA - Certified Financial analyst - evaluates investment opportunities by examining the financial statements and other data. As I said, both are usually desk jobs - it would require some creativity on your part to get away from the desk. But on the plus side, both are art forms rather than merely technical number crunching - so you could certainly find or create a position that would stimulate your brain cells to work overtime!
I think financial analyst is more challenging and interesting. CPA is pretty desk-oriented, I think. But neither one is necessarily locked in to what others are doing.
