What is Financial Engineering and how do I prepare for such a Degree? |
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Financial Engineering can be basically thought of making up bonds from other bonds. You can replicate the payment of any bond by using other bonds. The field also includes the creation and manipulation of derivatives including options (puts/calls) and futures/forwards. Most people I know who engage in this field are in the Fixed Income Divisions of major investment banks. To prepare, you'll need a highly quantitative mindset.
