Personal Bank trainee ? |
Hi, I am about to graduate with Undergrad degree in Math. I want to go in Banking firm (Toronto). So i was thinking of Personal Banking Trainee....this is mainly entry level position. Just wondering how much money do they make? After my Undergard i am going for CGA (acountant designation) ...so i want to do part-time job after getting my Undergrad. thnaks minimum wage. In the US, they start about $30k and get commissions, bringing their total first year earnings to $50k. Check with each bank requirements, since what some call Personal Banker are just customer service or new account representative. For a true Personal Banker, you would need insurance and/or brokerage licenses depending on the bank. To obtain a job as a Personal Banker or Financial Services Rep. you would need in most banks to have your IFIC (mutual funds license) or CSC (Canadian securities course). If you have the CSC it would help you to stand out a bit as there are lots of candidates with IFIC. There is no need to have an insurance license as banks ( the retail branches) are not allowed to sell insurance. RBC and TD offer insurance but it is not trough the retail branch (banking branch). If you just want to start part time then you can apply for the CSR (teller) position and work your way up. ThePersonal Banker /FSR pay is not glamorous. It starts at 30K up to 38K depending on which bank, location and your experience. You will get some performance bonus but it is nothing to rave about. It is a good stepping stone for your career but not a good final destination :) Good Luck |
