Please advise me on the academic entry requirements for the financial Risk managers programme (FRM).? |
I am a finance professionaland wish to pursue this qualification. I need an objective view from anyone that has direct knowledge about FRM. Please advise on the credibility as well as academic entry requirements. Is it a degree, or is it open and flexible to anyone provided they have the experience? Looking forward to your objective answers. Regards, Alehandro Rock Credibility: As far as I know, it seems that the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) is the designation to get these days. If you're interested in equity research especially, CFA will be very important. Even in asset management, it seems like more professionals [in finance, including in other areas of investment banker like corporate finance or M&A] are studying for the CFA versus any other designation. If you could only choose one between taking the CFA or FRM. I would take the CFA. Academic entry requirements: The FRM is not a degree. It's a certification awarded to those who pass the exam. To use the FRM after your last name, you'll need to i) pass the exam, ii) join the Global Association of Risk Professionals, and iii) have at least two years of experience in financial risk management or in a related field.
