What does exactly a financial analyst do? thanks?
Basically, they analyze past financial data and make forcasts based on that and other factors (what's going on in the industry and in the company itself). Involves a lot of math (but usually pretty simple math - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division primarily), working with spreadsheets (need to know how to do pie charts and graphs, as well as formulas) usually MS Excel based, and databases. After they analyze and forcast the data, they sometimes have to present it to others - sometimes to people who have no clue about the data so it's key that the FA have decent communication skills and also the ability to simply things that are sometimes very complex... put things in lamens terms - that's why the graphs and pie charts are necessary. Financial Analysts also often set and adjust the company budget and have to work with departments w/i the company to make sure that the department budgets are in line with the company's and that everything is allocated to the correct bucket, etc.
Hope this helps! They simply tear you apart, and than separate good and bad in segments, reassemble all the pieces in a way you want them to do or in a way the tax people keep looking at it and can not find holes through which to catch your neck.
