I am a C.A. working in audit deptt. and want to switch to equity research but not finding the way. What to do? You have few options open. 1) The best is to join CFA Course, complete first year and that will give you sufficient control over security analysis. You can than start applying to security analysis companies. While studying CFA, you can comfortably analyse yourself whether u r interested in converting your field or not without leaving your job. Secondly, if you will decide not to pursue Equity Research, CFA will certainly help you to raise your career in the areas of corporate finance. 2) Join any diploma in security analysis or just take few books on technical analysis. Complete the studies, start investing yourself and also start advising others, within 6-8 months you will sufficiently acquire knowledge which will help you to face interview. 3) The last way is to apply for job with share broker in their internal audit department. If you will manage to get it, start learning analysis with books and with the guide of others, chances are good than within a year, you can move comfortably to the research deparment. That's it buddy, go ahead, equity research is a very rewarding career. |
