Writer's Bureau? |
I am planning to enrol for a writing course with Writer's Bureau. I would like to hear from somebody who knows about/has gone through the course ....Are they for real??What are the success Rates? Is their course aas helpful as they claim? Thanks Personally, I`d teach myself, there are plenty of books available which will give you the same info as the writers course for free. It may just be me, but I hate paying for things I can do myself! Read the books, and then show your friends your writing and get them to give an honest review. I`m sure there are places on the net that you can find as well where people can critique your writing. Writing for magazines is much easier to get into than writing books, so is a good place to start. You can find the magazines you`d like to write for, and style the writing styles, format etc. You could then write an example article or story and send it in, asking if they have any work going. A lot of magazines take on work from freelancers. Getting a book deal is a lot harder, and unfortunately a lot of it is luck and being in the right place at the right time. Having articles published in magazines will stand you in good stead though. Its difficult to comment further, as obviously advice will vary depending on the type of writing eg fact or fiction. Its a huge cliche, but don't give up! You WILL get a lot of rejections, but then every writer has them. Even when you are employed, its hard to read critiques of your writing, and having to change things you were happy with. Its part of the job though, so don't let it put you off! Good luck, if you really want to do it, you will! Source(s): Im a published author of 4 books and a number of magazine articles. I'm glad you asked that question because you saved me checking to find out if they're still going. Yes they are for real, i'm the one who copped out at lesson two ;o(( BUT they say it doesn't matter how long you take to compete it, do it at your own time. At the rate I'm going I'll be 150 before I get half way through! Hi there, let me know if you are going to enroll. I am interested too. |
