When Banks do an employee background check, does a police report (with no arrest or conviction) show up? |
My friend is an investment banker. His girlfriend filed a police report against him on minor assault charges during an argument. She decided not to press charges and closed the case. They have since reconciled. He is now concerned that he cannot switch banking jobs or renew his series 63 license this November without this report showing up on his background check. If he has not been arrested or convicted, are his concerns valid? Yes they will show up No it won't show up No, if there was no conviction then there is nothing to show.. not to mention it wouldn't be public anyways because only state charges typically go into public record.. usually smaller crimes go into city ordinances.. also why would they be concerned.. assault does not bar you from banking jobs, only fraud, bad checks, and theft do.. ALSO IF IT IS FEDERALLY INSURED.. they have to do an FBI background check.. which ONLY CHECKS FOR STATE CHARGES.. state charges are felonies and banking laws broken Citigroup Employee, Citibank Retail Affiliate |
