I am a recent physics graduate and hope to interview for a career in finance in one of the big banks in the city. I have just been blacklisted and received a County Court Judgement for student debt. Will this be taken into account?
I can only speak from the US standpoint. Here in America, many companies have adopted practices to, along with checking your criminal history, check the credit history. When I asked my boss why they did that, he told me that companies do not like to trust their businesses to people who cannot resolve their own financial problems. It may be different in UK, but I would think that in this age of technological advancemnets, employer would like to have a guaranteed bet on their hires. No, your company will do a background check on you. Also the NASD is a worldwide regulation, not a national Go for the job, maybe they'll check , maybe not - give it a shot!!!
