Starting 2009, do you need a masters to take the CPA exam/?

I live in Florida

Florida requires 150 hours of education. You do NOT have to get the Masters degree, but some people choose to because the Masters degree usually requires only a few more classes than the 150 hour rule for CPA exam. It's the reason I chose to get the masters degree (at FSU). I have not heard (and could not find anything) about any possible changes to the education requirement.
Good luck! :) Source(s): I passed CPA exam in Florida in 2006. Here's Florida's website:

or if you want it in plain english, try finding the info in the Accounting dept's page of the university of your choice..like http://www.cob.fsu.edu/acc/cpa_requireme...
Check with your state accountancy board.

My understanding is that people have been required for some time now to have master level hours to take the CPA exam. But I don't know if it's a requirement to actually have your masters degree.

Good luck from one CPA to a future CPA!
"1. A bachelors degree from an accredited institution. There is no requirement that the bachelors degee be in accounting.

2. Thirty semester hours of coursework from an accredited institution, beyond what was required for the bachelors degree. If a bachelors degree required 120 semester hours, then the total hour requirement is 150 semester hours. There is no requirement that the thirty additional semeser hours be taken at the masters level. In addition, there is no requirement, per se, for a masters degree.

3. Within the total hour requirement in "2" above, 36 semester hours of accounting and/or tax courses above the principles level. For a listing of accounting and tax courses offered by the Department of Accounting and Finance that qualify under this requirement, click here.

4. Within the total hour requirement in "2" above, thirty-nine semester hours of general business courses, including six semester hours in business law. "

check with the accountancy board in your area. Right now there is just a 150 hour rule, but it doesn't require a masters, but most people are doing it that way.

Good luck to you.
I do not believe so. I have been keeping track of the requirements because I will be talking the exam around that time. Every state has its own requirements, but I don't think it is required to have a masters. This website will give you a list of requirements that most states have. Hope it helps.
