How does disability checks work? Iam unemployed and not in school right now.? there are two kinds of disability ... one due to on the job injury and the other due to not on the job conditions. the first is usually part of workmen's compensation and is regulated as such under the laws of your state. Of course, if you weren't injured on the job, you're not eligible. the second is administered by Social Security. pls read about it on their website. I know from direct experience that their investigators will ask your recent employers, neighbors, friends, etc. about your 'disability'. If you are denied, there are many, many possible appeals which cost you nothing. And, so far, you make no case for being disabled, only unemployed. what you seem to need is a job GL finding one Whose "disability checks" are you talking about? If you didn't qualify under someone's "disability" program, it's not likely you can start receiving any checks. I guess the amounts depend on the specific Plan in place. You know, I suppose, that you need to be disabled by something that happened during your period of employment. well........i say you should have finished elementary school first, i take it you were the goof-off kid in class, well consider it a lesson learned, K? and next time when someone says............"this is important to know when you are a grown-up" then you will get the picture, you will go to school, dont worry about disability, cause you dont desserve it, you can do SOMETHING!!!!!!! ME!!!!!!! If ur unable to work due to a permanent disability go to ur Social Security Adminstration and sign up by filling out a bunch of forms about ur disability , where you have been treated, when ur were treated, ur doctors, ur meds. etc. then wait for another appt. and wait another year until the board approves or disapproves--it's not that easy.
