Constantly Late Paycheck, what should I do?? |
I work for this small medical device company, theres usually just me and 1 other person here in the office, I've been here since may, and my pay period is every other friday, well one friday they forgot my check and I didn't get paid until wednesday, needless to say my plans for that weekend got cancelled, and now when my check arrives today, the lady whose supposed to sign it is on her way to hawaii for a week. I asked my office manager who's going to sign it and she just said OH NO...I said i'm sorry i hate to be a nag, but i have an emergency and I need to purchase a plane ticket TODAY (which is true), she said no I understand and made a few calls, there is no sense of urgency here...I really need help I need to get paid TODAY I have to be on a flight tomorrow night at the latest...any suggestions?? please help.......I know this is illegal.... Don't make a big fuss, just start looking for another job. When you find one, then quit.... If your employer doesn't offer direct deposit, then you are really not going to get very far. If you rat them out to the State, that may work, but it will be obvious you did, and they will find a way to get rid of you in retaliation. The fine to employer for late pay varies, but it is usually not much money, so that's not a huge incentive for them to pay you on time anyway. Call the Labor Board in your State and they will tell you what you can do. You might have a legal case against them, however be prepared to change jobs in case of harrassment or firing because of their negligence. |
