Anyone took Becker CPA live-class? |
I always believed in direct, hands-on, teacher-to-student education. I have never been fond of or interested in online, CD-based education. Motivation to actually do the work with no one's supervision is one thing. No access to being able to ask Qs to instructor is another. After doing some research on Becker Review program, I found out that access and interaction with instructor is very limited in live-class session. The instructor just plays the lecture CD for 4 hrs straight and all he does is answering few Qs at the end. I don't know how that is going to help any student who prefers live class over online class. Moreover, there is nothing mentioned about the credentials of any instructors, what college he graduated from, what degree he holds, what experience he has, etc. If anyone took Becker CPA Review Course for live-class, could you please share your experience on how it benefited you? Do you know other CPA review course that offers better live-lectures and materials than Becker? I took the Becker review class. This was a few years ago, and it was a taped class. But it was exactly how you describe above - the "teacher" just played the tape and then he or she answered questions at the end. I can't say that the teacher helped very much, but the tapes were excellent. These guys really know what you need to focus on to pass the exam. I think what really helped me was purchasing the Gleim books (I think that's what it is called) that have tons of old exams. Working those old exams night after night really helped me. |
