Where are all of the washed up Senior Mortgage Bankers going? |
My company is finally closing it's doors. I know mortgages but my referral sources have dried up, due to the market. Can I avoid a call center job at half the pay? My knowledge has to be worth more than that. Try looking for jobs in similar industries. There are several non-profit organizations out there that need people with your expertise (but not exactly in that function). See link below. Some community development agencies are looking for mortgage counselors and real estate advisors. The reverse mortgage industry is growing in areas with lots of retirees. Look at your hobbies and interests to see if you can turn them into a profitable business. Age doesn't matter and you have a strong business background, so you know what it takes to start a business. Being your own boss can be quite liberating and you don't have to answer to some college grad that is young enough to be your child. When I decided that it was time to contribute to the family finances I opted for a home based business. I bought an on line travel agency through a great company. I love what I do. I have excellent support, training and mentoring from the parent company. I love the commissions, tax benefits, and the travel agent credentials. I have done very well.
