I received a blank money order as payment from an ebay listing (the amount it is for is printed)?

I received a blank money order as payment from an ebay listing. None of the fields are filled in, but the amount it is for (its value) is filled in.

The "Customer Receipt" is attached too.

What should I fill in before I cash it (if I can still cash it)?

Remit payment to your self or put your name in pay to the order of and cash it. you dont have to do the remitter portion but if u want to u can put who it is from on that line.

It is probably stolen and no good. Bring it to the bank to see what they can do.

If you know who sent it to you, email/call them and ask them about it. Don't send the item that was bought, until you have cleared the issue up. In addition, I'd suggest the calling the bank that issued the money order in the first place and find out from them. I'm guessing that the person sending it to you, didn't know who to make it out to, or forgot to do so, and sent it to you blank. All you should have to do is fill in your name on the Pay To line and sign the back. Money orders are cash, not checks, so they can't bounce. If it's in the exact amount that it was supposed to be in, I'd say you are safe.

Oh, and on a final note, check to see if the person signed it. You can fill in all the information yourself, too. Just make sure that whoever is listed as the Purchaser, has to sign the money order, if there isn't a spot to sign it on the front, then don't worry about it. :)
