I hope you guys can help me with a job application form.? |
I am applying for a job within the public sector, I know I can do the job but I am rubbish at selling myself, I should probably invest in assertiveness classes, but in the meantime any tips on how to answer the following statements would be greatly appreciated. 鈥?Knowledge and experience of accounting techniques 鈥?Experience in the use of integrated financial management computer systems and desktop productivity tools such as MS Office 鈥?Experience of working as part of a structural team and good communication skills Try sitting down and making in bullet points all the experience you have gained throughout your career, then slot the bullet points into each answer, obviously putting it into paragraph format. It may also be useful to try making a list of the characteristics that you think are beneficial to your career. I always find that approaching applications forms this way is much easier than trying to answer individual questions. Good luck!! We do not know your experience so we cant answer the questions for you but you need to give examples of when you used the above points... e.g. "Knowledge and experience of accounting techniques" - whether you have any formal training or qualifications, GCSE's, college diplomas, etc of acounting or mathematics. - Experience of using accounting, like book-keeping for example. "Experience in the use of integrated financial management computer systems and desktop productivity tools such as MS Office" - Whether you have used any computer software in your previous training or work, like Microsoft Office. "Experience of working as part of a structural team and good communication skills" - Have you had previous work experience of working in a team of people? For example, (say you worked as a receptionist previously), you would say you worked in a team of three reporting to the manager's secretary. You had good communication skills as you were dealing with all different types of customers. Give an example of how you dealt with a difficult customer to show you can handle all situations. Good luck! Answer any of the questions as honestly as you can , if you only have limited experience in any area , say just that but highlight what you do have and express your willingness to learn Accounting techniques : This is a fancy way of wrapping up that you are able to budget your expenditure against income .So if you will be working with a responsibility to control the budget for your unit you need to be aware that control is necessary to ensure you work within financial restraints Financial management computer systems : this will just be the IT tools provided to ensure you are able to monitor expense against budget .. day to day , month to month etc .And you can highlight what expertise you have on the MS Office packages in general The last one is probably the easiest to sell yourself , this is all to do with how you can fit in to a team , enjoy working with people . If you have previous experience , even captain of your school team , highlight this . Good luck |
