Is this the worst task for a manager? |
I just had to lay off an excellent worker due to a slow down in business. I think I took it worse than him. It really stinks. Try not to take it so hard. To make things better, why not give them a referral letter. This will show other employers that he was not fired by any cause on his part. Also, if business picks up, try to contact them. If they are still interested, hire them back. unfortunately you have to take the bitter with the sweet Yes it is. So much for 'good secure jobs'. Yea that sucks I think firing some one really sucks to! Make sure that he gets a great reference from you! That is really the only good thing that can be done for him right now. That sucks....especially when they probably overlooked a slacker. - You never know, maybe God had something else for him I hated when I had to do that but it was not the worse thing. I gave them good recommendations and even helped place a couple in positions in other areas (it was a large organization with cuts in some areas while still hiring in others). The worse thing I had to do was speak at an employee's funeral who had died on the job. It galled me that my superiors showed so little concern at the situation such that I ended up retiring earlier than I had previously planned. |
