Big 4 accounting hiring help?

What are the chances of me getting into a Big 4 with 1 year of experience during their fall recruitment. Also, will the recruiter's ignore my e-mails if their e-mails were intended for graduating students?

Keep in mind that many people want to work for one of the Big 4. So what can you do to make your CV stands out in the crowd.

If you had good grades in school, make sure you mention it.

If your one year of experience is for a particular industry, high light how you had applied your accounting skills for that industry.

If you are on track to start your CPA or other continue education since university, mention what you have done for continue education.

Make sure to mention that you are willing to travel, flexible with hours and if you are pursuing CPA.

Most likely the recruiter will not give you a personal response. At best, you might get a message to let you know they have your resume on file. Chances are you wouldn't hear from them again unless they want an interview.

Finally, do not apply multiple times within short time frame. Unless some time has passed and your CV looks different, multiple applications will only hurt your chances.

Best wishes.
My wife works for one of the Big Four firms. One thing to keep in mind if they look for people who are looking to be on the CPA track. All the firms have a different guidline as to the level you can get to without a CPA. Some may say you can not be a manager without a CPA and some may say you can not be a Senior Manager without a CPA. So with that said if you are not CPA eligible you may want to find out what you need to do to become eligible.
You also need to figure out if you want to be in Audit, Financial Advisory Services or Tax.
If you have one eyar of experience you are considered an experienced candiate and not a college graduate. The best way to get in to a Big Four firm other than campus recruiting is to know someone who works for one of the firms. Do you know anyone? Also, Monster, HotJobs, CareerBuilder also have postings for the various Big Four firms.
My last piece of advice is to realize the Big Four is not a 9-5 job. If that is what you are looking for, than the Big Four is not for you. My wife is a Senior Manager with one of the firms, she works until five, comes home with her laptop and BlackBerry and continues to work after she puts our daughter to bed. If you are looking to get into audit, you will be sent to clients and will work very long hours.

Good luck!
