Investment Planning Counsel (IPC) good/bad company? |
What's their reputation? Are they good to work for? Do they offer good products? Any info appreciated! I have never heard of the firm/company...however, that's not unusual for locally owned/operated independent investment offices. However, you need to provide more information. 1) are they doing investments (stocks, bonds, etc)...then you can go the www.nasd.com website and enter, either, the name of the firm (which I did and it doesn't come up) or the names of the "brokers" that do investments for them and get a report on their "professional"...and prior?...work history. 2) are the doing insurance products only? Not uncommon among firms that call themselves "Planning" something-or-other. Typically they are in business only to sell very "predatory" annuities or reverse mortgages, etc. In any case...you may contact your state's insurance licensing division, and their investment licensing division (whatever name your state gives it)...to see if: 1) They have an actual business license 2) They have an insurance or investment license (both must be registered in some way with the state. 3) Get some information regarding complaints, etc. Honestly, if you "don't feel comfortable" with the firm enough to be doing this kinda background... you probably have a bad feeling about it in some way anyway...whether it be the firm or just some of the people you've met...so, based on that alone...I would probably look elsewhere. Source(s): 10 years in personal financial advice/management (wall streety firms and major banks) and several years of bookkeeping/accounting/finance jobs in the corporate world before that. (otherwise, I don't know what I'm talking about) |
