Are there really such people in this world? Need some insight? |
Please answer with great honesty. What would you do if a temp worker was hired for a few months and was able to out perform all of his co-worker? Would you be happy for him or would you hate him? Lately I feel that my co-worker is having some resentment towards me for working hard and finding creative ways to solving problems. They keep telling me to not work so hard and to slow down but I just brush them off and go about with my business. After disagreeing with my co-works philosophy in work ethics, they tried a new approach; they tried to push their workload on to me. I responded by writing a letter to my supervisor explaining their attempts. Now I think they are talking bad behind my back and finding a reason to have me out of a job. Do you really think such people exist? Have we come to a point where the skilled are punished for their competence? Is this behavior only found low level, average corporate jobs or is it the same in the executive level as well? this is nothing new, THIS IS OUR WORKPLACE, we work with the same circumstances everyday with a few good men and a lot of jerks bastardizing the workplace! just as long as you do your job well, treat everyone justly there is nothing to worry about. just kill them with kindness. there are such people but if you work hard enough you'll get promoted and you'll work with different people. One of the attributes of a great worker is his competence in the skills required for the job. Another is his interpersonal skills and ability to fit in and work within a group. It sounds like you do a terrific job at the first point, but may want to consider reviewing your skills in the second. Go here: http://www.unitedmedia.com/comics/dilber... You are a very ambitious person. As such you will cop some flack. Live with it. If I were your supervisor I would not appreciate the fact that you think i am that stupid I don't know what is going on. And although ultimately I have to pick the best person for the job I still have to look after people who gave me good service. yes there are people like this in all walks of life. you should work hard to keep your job and do the best job you can do but I feel you were wrong in writing the letter. You should have handles that situtaion on your own. I'm not sure about the levels at which this exists but I think that you are right. Your co-workers are already permanent hires, so they are feeling all warm and fuzzy about the jobs that they have. They have nothing to prove, and have agreed upon an acceptable level of work amongst themselves. If you come along and don't play their game, they are gonna try to make you look bad, by giving you more work than is humanly possible, and it will not make them look bad (or will it?). You can only do the best that you can so, and believe it or not, all managers are not complete morons. If you have pointed out this " strategy" they will surely notice, but be prepared to maintain such a high level of achievement if you are permanently hired. |
