Collections agencies debt collectors?

im not going to show up for a deposition hearing for a major credit card i ignored letters and told an atty on the phone that he said i would be punished wait and see.wow lol they aready spank my pocket book plus they dont have the power. id like to hear some comment from actual attys or collections agy but doubt they will cause they know they are wrong uh aint they

If you received a court summons and you do not show, the credit agency will win suit against you. At that point the court could order garnishment of your wages.

It's NOT smart to ignore these things. Ignoring them will get you in even deeper.
They really can't do you anything and can't harrass you at work as long as you tell them you can't accept phone calls; it is against the law (and let them know you know it is against the law and you will have your attorney contact them- get their name!). My husband refused to pay for one because they ticked him off (long story). If you tell them you're going to pay, the date that the credit goes off your record is extended ---- as then the start date changes to begin on the day you tell them you will pay. So if you are not going to pay, avoid them or tell them you're not going to pay. If you pay on it a little here and there, it will be on your credit a long time until you get current or it gets paid off.

Hope this helps.

The only way to get rid of them is when you see a Credit Counsellor. Credit counsellors talk to your creditors and negotiate more manageable payments on your behalf. From the sounds of it, you are going through a tough time and could use some help.
If you are being sued by a creditor and you don't show up to court, and they get a judgment, there is no turning back. I work for a large global bank and people don't show up to court all of the time (We love it). If you aren't there to defend yourself, the judge will likely grant the judgment. At that point, they can either pull funds from your checking account or garnish your wages. Once a judgment is obtained, there is no fighting it, and can't be reversed.
