maybe its the way you write
you might be lacking a big skill that they look for [maybe writting]
Do you speak in the same manner as you type? Are you ghetto?
Probably your GPA. With a C average (75% on tests), you've only learned 75% of the material offered. That's basically a 3-year education after spending 4-years in college.

From years of observation by university teachers (and I am one), most "A" students become teachers, B students (and graduate study students) get jobs in the field of study, and C students becomes sales reps.

C students create problems, because they ask lots of questsions about the 25% of the major that they didn't learn.

All new employees go into some type of training, and A students can be expected to learn pretty much everything presented in orientation and on the job training, and C students much less. The tax laws change every year, and C students will not know enough (even after being sent to seminars at company expense) to stay out of trouble.

An accountant can prepare a tax return and have only the client sign it, or the accountant prepares the tax return and signs with the client.

If a problem arises on the jointly signed return, both the accountant and the client can be fined or go to jail. For that reason, major and minor accounting firms usually limit their hiring to graduates with a 3.5 or higher GPA, as clients prefer that the accountant sign the tax return.

So generally speaking, companies will accept an A student and B student to fill any position, but shun C students unless special circumstances exist.

As to being "given a chance", you have to earn consideration, it's not given. What is your GPA? Does your resume shown involvement in activities such as student government or the student accounting society? Have you published anything? Do you have references from part-time employment? Does your resume have spelling errors? Email me your resume and I'll critique it if you wish. Good luck.
It's hard competitive field, not only do you they want you to have the degree but they want you to have the experience as well. There are places that want someone who has n't been exposed to other accounting techniques because they don't want you to use your own techniques on their system. A good place to look for those are Car Dealerships.
you should try a bank or credit union. you can get a job. One of my co-worker lied about having a degree from Brazil. and she got an accounting job but she really does not know what she is doing. But her stupid *** boss did not check on her degree because she said it was from Brazil. So I know you can get a banking job. Just ace the interview study the type of bank and the job description I know you can do this.
start a business of your own, like ebay. get accounting software. you will be learning on your own at least its a start.
