Can i get a job with a financial firm with a petty theft misdemeanor? |
I believe i'm getting convicted of a petty theft misdemeanor. I should be getting a plea bargain where if I cooperate after 18 months the record will be reduced to a simple trespass. My question is, prior to the 18 months, i'm assuming the conviction will show. Is it possible for me to get a finance job with a top tier firm? Or will the conviction automatically disqualify me to be hired? I've heard some firms only care about felonies, some firms will hire you if you can explain yourself, and some firms will not hire you due to company policy. People say different things.. does anyone know? Thanks. With finance it depends. I personally would not want to trust my money to someone with legal issues. Ask your attorney to advise you as to the best course with your plea! Don't you have an attorney? You should ask him/her this question. I don't care what anyone here says it depends on your state. Some have expungement, some don't, some like CA have a type of expungement, every one is different. It depends on what type of company it is. Most big companies will run a background check on you so they will find out whether you want them to know or not. Why don't you try to work at a smaller company and then start from there. Do not lie about it either. If they catch you then you will not get the job for sure. You can tell them in advance and explain it to them of what happened. I hope you learned a good lesson from all of these. Sometimes there are fun things that people do for the moment but they don't consider the future. Think before you act. Good luck! I hope not. Many honest people would like a job, and their unblemished record is, and should be a vital part of their resume. It's really up to the company. Some will turn you down I am sure, but if you are presistent, you will find that one company that will see through your mistake and take you on! Good Luck. I would think that you are guilty of theft..and theft is stealing for financial gain... so anyway, if you were the CEO of a company that deals with money would you want someone who is proven to to be a theif working with your customers and their life's earnings.. I do not really mean to offend anyone, just pointing out the brutal truth..I think you would be better suited in employment hwere you are not left to control others money. I was just victimized by a bank teller who has been slowly stealing customers money over the past few years..I just lost 379.00 ( originally it was 1400.00, but I was able to get some of my money returned to me ) I was a customer there for 15 years and now do not trust anyone else with my money. It makes me sick to think that they would let a convicted theif handle my accounts. I really dont think even a penal institution credit union would hire you. It sounds as if you are going to be a convicted shop lifter. You better try jobs which require no screening for risk manangement. |
